Xylem R&D Engineering Intern in Zelienople, Pennsylvania

Are you excited to get your hands dirty solving real-world water challenges? Xylem’s Research & Technology (R&D) team is looking for an Engineering Intern to join us in Pittsburgh and gain practical experience in water and wastewater treatment. This is your chance to work on pilot-scale and lab-scale projects, learn from experienced engineers, and see your work make a real impact.

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate and maintain mobile and stationary pilot testing equipment for water and wastewater studies

  • Conduct hands-on water analysis in the lab or in the field using bench-top and process equipment

  • Work with processes like Coagulation/Flocculation, Filtration, Denitrification, and more

  • Collect and analyze data, prepare reports, and share your findings with the team

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians from Xylem’s global network

  • Support technical activities and learn about pumps, valves, instrumentation, and control systems

Who You Are:

  • Pursuing a degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

  • Curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn through hands-on experience

  • Comfortable following safety protocols and using PPE

  • Proficient with MS Office and able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally

  • Willing to work with common hand and power tools and assist with technical tasks

  • Knowledge of water chemistry or prior lab experience is a plus

  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
