The opportunity

This opportunity is for an Occupational Health & Safety Professional to work within our Environment, Health and Safety department. The selected candidate will be reponsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in compliance with ISO 45001:2018, company standards, and applicable EU and Maltese health and safety regulations. This role ensures a safe working environment, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, company policies, and pharmaceutical industry standards

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement corrective/preventive actions

  • Develop and deliver health & safety training programs for employees

  • Monitor workplace safety performance and prepare reports, KPIs, and audits

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring proper root cause analysis and follow-up

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Engineering) to promote a strong safety culture

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, procedures, and records in line with compliance requirements

  • Support internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety

Your experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field / related experience and Master's degree

  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sector

  • Hands-on experience with ISO 45001 implementation and maintenance

  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies

  • Familiarity with cGMP environments is an advantage

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently and proactively
