Westmoreland County Community College Coordinator/PA MEDI (Casual Part-Time - Grant Funded) in Youngwood, Pennsylvania
This position is responsible to assist Medicare eligible participants in understanding their Medicare health insurance options and various assistance programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide programs and counseling services to people with Medicare by working within the scope of the College mission and the regulations of the PA MEDI (Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight) program.
- Provide health insurance counseling to Medicare beneficiaries in the office, community counseling sites, by telephone and occasionally in the home of a homebound client.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations and provide speaker services to promote the PA MEDI program.
- Recruit, screen, oversee, and train volunteers to serve as PA MEDI counselors.
- Provide support, education, and guidance to PA MEDI volunteers.
- Oversee volunteer training, scheduling and promotion of Medicare 101 classes, comparison events, health fairs, etc.
- Organize and order materials, and keep all program updates easily accessible.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the Area Agency of Aging of Westmoreland County and the PA Department of Aging.
- Enter data into state reporting sites.
- Collect, maintain and analyze program statistics.
- Attend trainings and meetings required by the PA Department of Aging, including state conferences. Share updated Medicare and State information with the PA MEDI volunteers.
- Attend training for Long Term Care Insurance.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Travel to PA MEDI locations as needed.
- Assist with PA MEDI events.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, work groups/teams, and professional organizations.
- Enhance professional knowledge by keeping current with emerging practices; monitor developing trends; integrate new technologies as applicable.
- Serve as a member of President's Council.
- Advocate for the College and PA MEDI Programs at community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated skill in planning, writing, organizing, drafting, and editing written documents.
- Demonstrated expertise and working knowledge of technical principles, theories and concepts in field of specialization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues consistently, confidentially and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple work assignments and manage multiple tasks in a constantly changing work environment while paying attention to detail.

EDUCATION
- Associate's degree in a related field required
EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of related work experience is required.
- Prior work experience with Medicare or health insurances is preferred.
- Related work experience in higher education is preferred.
LICENSE
- Valid driver's license required
CLEARANCES The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:
- PA Child History clearance
- PA Criminal Record Check clearance
- FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance
