Aerotek Set Up Technician in Youngstown, Ohio

Job Title: Set Up Technician Job Description

Join our team as a Set Up Technician, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the precise placement and installation of compressors and engines on skids. You will work a regular schedule from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime from 6:00 AM to 4:40 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and specifications to determine proper compressor and engine placement on skids.

  • Verify dimensions, squareness, and tolerances before installation.

  • Establish reference points and calculate layout dimensions.

  • Level skids and sub-bases prior to mounting equipment.

  • Pour concrete on skids for compressor mounting and build dikes for epoxy bases.

  • Use cranes to safely mount compressors and engines.

  • Align compressors using alignment tools and materials, ensuring they fit on the subbase for proper machine connection.

  • Utilize Boom Lifts/JLG lifts with confidence, being comfortable working at heights.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and repair skills.

  • Proficiency in machine set-up and changeover.

  • Experience in setting compressors using alignment tools.

  • Ability to work comfortably with heights.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Align compressors to sub-bases using precision tools such as transit or laser.

  • Heat-shrink and install couplings on compressors and engines.

  • Align engines to compressors and complete final coupling connections.

  • Clean, inspect, and install pressure vessels in preparation for piping.

  • Work to tight tolerances as specified in drawings.

  • Update or add dimensional details to prints when required for downstream teams.

Work Environment

Work in a manufacturing and plant floor environment, surrounded by about 200 employees in a family-owned company with an 80-year legacy. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, with required personal protective equipment including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Noise levels are typically loud, with occasional exposure to vibration, airborne particles, and odors. Temperature may vary based on season and machining operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
