Job Title: Test Lab Technician
Job Description
The Technician is responsible for setting up and performing tests on a variety of building products including windows, doors, roof assemblies, and wall panel systems.
Shift and Pay
First Shift - $22-$23/hr
Responsibilities
Manage all assigned jobs through Oasis, including proposals, job progress, notifications, invoicing, documentation of test data, reporting, and job closure.
Review and thoroughly understand contract requirements, obtaining authorization for and documenting any deviations.
Coordinate test schedules with equipment schedules and other department testing.
Set up, mount, and perform standard tests on building products in accordance with referenced specifications and procedures.
Check the calibration status of test equipment prior to testing.
Analyze test results and write accurate and concise test reports summarizing the test procedures and results.
Communicate with clients regarding test preparation, procedures, and results.
Learn test standards and procedures (e.g., AAMA, ASTM, TAS, etc.).
Maintain tools and equipment, inventory supplies, and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
Take responsibility for entry-level testing projects under direct supervision as assigned, until certified to perform testing independently.
Perform computer modeling of building mock-ups and test chambers if designated as a CAD operator.
Perform other work as required.
Essential Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Forklift operation experience.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to read and retain work instructions and complex testing procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma required.
Technical School education preferred.

Work Environment
The test lab is a controlled environment with unique equipment designed to simulate fire, water, wind impact, and other potential hazards. This equipment is used to test construction materials for certifications. The team builds the construction portion of the project and uses forklifts and other tools to bring it into the lab and install it. There is significant computer work and documentation involved post-testing for reporting purposes. Teams range from 6-15 people per job and frequently interact with other departments. The dress code includes safety toe boots, weld hood and shield, and weld gear, with additional safety equipment provided by the company.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
