Center for Independent Living Opportunities Peer Mentor in York, Pennsylvania
Position Summary
The Peer Mentor provides peer support and independent living services to consumers with diverse disabilities throughout CIL Opportunities' service area. The Peer Mentor supports consumers in achieving self-identified goals through peer mentoring, advocacy, information & referral, and independent living skills development, consistent with the Independent Living philosophy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Direct Consumer Services
- Provide peer mentoring and support based on consumer-directed goals
- Assist consumers with advocacy, independent living skills, and problem-solving
- Provide information and referral services
- Promote self-determination and independent living principles
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely consumer documentation
- Complete required service notes and reports
- Follow all confidentiality and record-keeping requirements
Community & Outreach
- Represent CIL Opportunities at community events and meetings as assigned
- Ensure meetings and materials are accessible
- Participate in required trainings and staff meetings
Qualifications
- Lived experience with disability and/or independent living strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Independent Living philosophy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to travel within the service area
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual who is organized and dependable to work with people with diverse disabilities in Adams, Franklin, and York Counties. Travel required.
