Job Description:
The Senior CNC Maintenance Technician ensures maximum equipment uptime by leading advanced diagnostics, repair, and optimization of CNC manufacturing equipment. This role serves as the technical subject matter expert for CNC systems, provides guidance to technicians, partners with Engineering on process improvements, and drives reliability initiatives that improve performance and reduce downtime.
Responsibilities:
Lead advanced troubleshooting and failure analysis on complex CNC and automation equipment.
Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on CNC machine performance, controls, and reliability.
Mentor and train junior CNC Maintenance Technicians in diagnostics and PM best practices.
Own and maintain critical equipment documentation, including PM plans, spare parts lists, and machine specifications.
Lead or co lead cross functional Continuous Improvement / Kaizen projects.
Coordinate with Engineering on machine upgrades, modifications, or automation enhancements.
Recommend machine or controls improvements to improve cycle time, reliability, and sustainability.
Assist with vendor management and evaluate technical proposals for equipment repairs and upgrades.
Oversee compliance with hazardous waste and safety requirements at a higher competency level.
Hazardous Waste Duties:
Responsible for managing portions of the hazardous waste program at the facility.
Responsible for completing hazardous waste paperwork and providing paperwork to EHS Manager for processing.
Assist with hazardous waste transport companies during site visits as needed.
Job Requirements:
Critical Knowledge and Qualifications:
GED, or equivalent education required; additional education (college, technical/trade school) preferred.
Advanced working knowledge of mechanical machine components, strong knowledge of electrical machine components, Machine M- and G-codes as well as in the mechanical and electrical function of the CNC machines.
Trained in machine repair, either classroom setting or on-the-job environment.
This position requires the technical skill to be able to assess and respond to chemical incidents.
This position requires the ability to understand and comply with hazardous waste regulations.
Transport of Hazardous Materials based on DOT Regulations
Hazardous Waste Collection and Removal (Per Nobel Biocare Policies and Procedures)
Advanced knowledge of CNC control systems, servo tuning, drives, PLC interfaces, and automation.
Ability to diagnose complex multi‑layer failures involving mechanical, electrical, controls, and software
Critical Skills:
Advanced root‑cause analysis (RCA)
Ability to lead projects
Ability to train others
Strong troubleshooting under minimal supervision
Critical Experience:
Proven experience leading complex repairs, rebuilds, or CNC upgrades
Experience collaborating with Engineering and Production on high‑impact project
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a similar role, similar role within a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience must include some combination of work experience in a manufacturing environment that demands high precision and high-volume repeatability at tight tolerances.

Target Market Salary Range:

At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
