Job Title: Agricultural Tiling / Drainage Installation Supervisor
Location: Wyoming, IL Position Type: Full-Time
Streitmatter Land Improvement Inc. is seeking an experienced Agricultural Tiling / Drainage Installation Supervisor to lead and oversee field operations. This role is responsible for managing tiling crews, coordinating projects, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining safety standards while installing and maintaining agricultural drainage systems.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive tiling experience, and the ability to manage equipment, crews, and project timelines efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both supervisory and fieldwork responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Leadership
Supervise and lead tiling crews on installation and repair projects.
Plan daily work schedules and ensure projects stay on timeline and within scope.
Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to crew members.
Drainage System Installation
Oversee installation of surface and subsurface agricultural drainage tile systems.
Ensure proper depth, spacing, and layout according to field plans and specifications.
Surveying & Planning
Coordinate field surveying and assist in designing drainage layouts.
Utilize GPS-based tiling systems and ensure accuracy of automated equipment.
Equipment Management
Operate and oversee the use of trenchers, plows, backhoes, and other heavy machinery.
Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
Troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues in the field.
Quality Control & Soil Evaluation
Evaluate soil conditions to ensure proper drainage solutions are implemented.
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company and client standards.
Maintenance & Repairs
Oversee inspection and repair of existing drainage systems.
Diagnose and resolve issues such as blockages, collapses, or leaks.
Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate documentation of project layouts, materials used, repairs, and labor.
Report project progress and field conditions to management.
Customer & Client Communication
Communicate with landowners and farm managers regarding project scope and progress.
Address concerns and provide professional recommendations.
Health & Safety Compliance
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Ensure all team members wear the required PPE and operate equipment safely.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional agricultural, construction, or supervisory training preferred.
Experience
3+ years of experience in agricultural drainage tiling or related field work.
Proven experience operating heavy equipment.
Prior leadership or crew management experience is strongly preferred.
Skills
Strong knowledge of soil types and agricultural water management.
Ability to read and interpret site plans, maps, and drainage layouts.
Experience with GPS-guided tiling systems preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor environments.
Ability to work long hours during peak seasons and in varying weather conditions.
Certifications (Preferred)
OSHA or other safety certifications.
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
Extended hours may be required during busy seasons.
Travel to various farm sites and project locations may be required.
