Job Description
City Market, Inc. is seeking a dependable and motivated Produce Manager to lead our produce department at our locally owned, family-operated grocery store in Wrangell, Alaska.
This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the produce department, including product quality, ordering, merchandising, and team support. The Produce Manager plays a key role in creating an inviting and well-stocked department that reflects freshness, organization, and care.
The ideal candidate leads by example, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and contributes to a positive, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the produce department
- Order, receive, and manage inventory to maintain freshness and minimize waste
- Ensure high standards of product quality, rotation, and presentation
- Create clean, organized, and visually appealing displays
- Maintain proper pricing, labeling, and signage
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Support, train, and guide team members as needed
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with product questions
Qualifications
- Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail management preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lead, support, and communicate effectively with a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Dependable and able to take initiative
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
