City Market, Inc. Grocery Store Assistant Manager in Wrangell, Alaska
City Market, Inc. is seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our locally owned, family-operated grocery store in Wrangell, Alaska.
This position plays a key role in maintaining a well-organized, efficient, and customer-focused store environment. The Assistant Manager works closely with store leadership and team members to ensure high standards of service, product quality, and overall store performance are consistently met.
The ideal candidate leads by example, communicates with respect, and takes initiative in both problem-solving and team support.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing daily store operations and workflow
Support, guide, and motivate team members to maintain a positive work environment
Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally
Help manage inventory, stocking, and product presentation
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are upheld
Assist with scheduling, training, and team development as needed
Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Store Manager
Qualifications
Previous retail or grocery experience preferred (supervisory experience a plus)
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively
Dependable, consistent, and able to take initiative
Ability to work flexible hours, including early or late hours and weekends if needed
Ability to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods
