Job Description
City Market, Inc. is seeking a dependable and motivated Deli Manager to lead our deli department at our locally owned, family-operated grocery store in Wrangell, Alaska.
This position is responsible for overseeing daily deli operations, including food preparation, product quality, cleanliness, and team support. The Deli Manager plays a key role in creating a welcoming environment where customers receive fresh, high-quality food and friendly, attentive service.
The ideal candidate leads by example, maintains high standards, and fosters a positive, team-oriented atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the deli department
- Prepare and ensure quality of deli foods and products
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
- Manage inventory, ordering, and product rotation
- Create organized, appealing displays and service areas
- Support, train, and guide deli team members
- Provide excellent customer service and handle special requests
- Ensure efficient workflow and consistent product availability
Qualifications
- Previous food service or deli experience preferred (management experience a plus)
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality
- Dependable and able to take initiative
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
