Position Summary:

The Regional Executive Director of Distribution Center Operations – East is a senior leadership role focused on the operational, financial, and talent performance of multiple Distribution Centers within the East Region. This position encompasses strategic oversight of three key facilities—North Augusta (SC), Chemung (NY), and Somerset (PA)—while also addressing broader regional responsibilities. The Executive Director will ensure the effective execution of CVS Health’s supply chain strategy, adapting operations to meet both regional and site-specific needs.

Key responsibilities include translating enterprise supply chain strategies into actionable regional plans, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and driving operational transformations across the Distribution Centers.

The Executive Director will collaborate with various departments, including Operational Excellence, IQC, Safety, Inventory, Engineering, Technology, HR, and Transportation, to ensure consistent implementation of network-wide initiatives. Additionally, this role will act as a regional voice in shaping future operating models and organizational design, while directly overseeing site Lead Directors and managing regional succession planning. The position is vital for maintaining labor stability, enhancing colleague experience, and ensuring alignment with enterprise-level operational goals, all while supporting safety and wellness initiatives across the supply chain.

Scope of Responsibility - Geographic & Operational Scope

  • Provides executive oversight for Three Distribution Centers within the East Region:

  • North Augusta, SC

  • Chemung, NY

  • Somerset, PA

  • Accountable for Front Store and Pharmacy operations across all assigned sites.

  • Leads operations supporting high‑volume, regulated distribution environments, including DEA‑regulated pharmacy operations.

Operational Leadership

  • Owns overall performance of assigned Distribution Centers across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, and People (SQDCIP) metrics.

  • Ensures consistent execution of CVS Health operating standards while enabling site‑specific optimization.

  • Oversees compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including Board of Pharmacy, DEA, OSHA, and environmental standards.

  • Acts as executive escalation point for major operational disruptions, safety events, regulatory matters, or service risks across the region.

Financial & Business Management

  • Holds full P&L accountability for the regional Distribution Center portfolio.

  • Leads annual operating plans, forecasts, capital planning, and cost management strategies across multiple sites.

  • Drives productivity, efficiency, and cost‑to‑serve improvements while maintaining service and quality expectations.

  • Partners with Finance and Supply Chain leadership to align regional performance with enterprise targets.

People Leadership & Talent Strategy

  • Directly leads and develops Lead Directors at assigned Distribution Centers.

  • Owns regional succession planning, bench strength, and leadership readiness for critical DC Ops roles.

  • Sets expectations for leader development, performance management, engagement, and retention across the region.

  • Builds a strong, inclusive culture focused on accountability, development, and colleague experience.

Strategy, Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Translates enterprise supply chain strategy into regional execution plans.

  • Leads and sponsors continuous improvement initiatives, operational transformations, and change management efforts across multiple DCs.

  • Partners with Operational Excellence, Engineering, Technology, HR, and Transportation to deploy network‑wide initiatives consistently.

  • Serves as a regional voice and thought partner in shaping future DC operating models, organizational design, and capability development.

Enterprise & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Represents the East Region in enterprise forums, cross‑regional operating councils, and strategic planning discussions.

  • Shares best practices across regions and contributes to network standardization and scalability.

  • Partners with Regional Executive Director – DC OPS West and Senior Manager, Supply Chain Strategy and Analytics to ensure alignment, continuity, and enterprise performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.

  • 7+ years leading multi‑site operations with full financial accountability.

  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex, regulated operations, including pharmacy or similarly regulated environments.

  • Proven ability to develop senior leaders and build strong succession pipelines.

  • Strong financial acumen with P&L ownership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Primary residence within the East Region footprint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading regional or network‑level operations.

  • Deep knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and labor management systems.

  • Experience driving enterprise‑scale operational transformation.

  • Lean / Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expected travel up to 40–50% , primarily within the East Region.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$131,500.00 - $303,195.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
