The Supply Chain Analytics Transportation, Sr. Manager (Warehouse Corporate Delivery Services Private Fleet) is responsible for enabling high-quality financial, service, and forecasting performance within the CVS Private Fleet network. This role is the primary owner of financial performance management, service metric governance, and operational forecasting, ensuring that network performance meets enterprise expectations.

As a key business partner to the Lead Director, Private Fleet – Middle Mile Transportation, the Senior Manager supports 6 Private Fleet locations: La Habra, CA; Conroe, TX; Knoxville, TN; North Augusta, SC; Somerset, PA. and Fredericksburg, VA. The role establishes and maintains disciplined KPI governance, rigorous forecasting practices, and recurring performance routines, all aligned with the CVS Private Fleet performance framework (Safety, People, Customer Service, Asset Management, Expense Control).

The position is accountable for meeting service commitments, achieving financial plans, and ensuring accurate and proactive management of operational performance, often in an environment with limited centralized support from IT, HR, Finance, and Analytics. While the role partners closely with Safety and Asset Management teams, it does not directly execute safety programs or manage asset lifecycles. Instead, its focus is on connecting operational decisions—including asset utilization, routing, and service execution—to financial and customer outcomes.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support ownership of a Private Fleet operating expense budget, ensuring alignment with enterprise financial targets.

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of financial KPIs such as cost per mile, cost per cube, cost per route, cost per stop, miles per cube, and maintenance cost per mile (reporting only).

  • Support the development of the annual budget, in-year forecasting, and monthly variance analysis with clear linkage to operational drivers.

  • Track, validate, and report on savings initiatives (e.g., routing optimization, Appian-driven savings, store realignments) to ensure benefits are realized.

  • Produce and maintain both office-level and network-level financial scorecards and reporting routines to drive accountability and transparency.

Customer Service & Delivery Performance

  • Own definitions, targets, and reporting for service KPIs, including On-Time Delivery (NLT), Planned vs. Actual (PVA), and service reliability metrics.

  • Govern performance routines for service metrics across Private Fleet locations, highlighting trends, gaps, and action plans.

  • Analyze service variability by office, market, and route structure, translating findings into operational and financial insights.

  • Support service improvement initiatives through data-driven root cause analysis, forecasting, and performance tracking.

Forecasting & Operational Performance Analytics

  • Own operational forecasting logic and assumptions that support budget building, service commitments, and capacity planning.

  • Maintain robust planned vs. actual tracking for volume, miles, routes, cube, and stops to ensure visibility to emerging trends and risks.

  • Identify forward-looking risks and opportunities that may impact service levels or financial performance, providing recommendations to leadership.

  • Support scenario modeling related to store realignment, delivery frequency, routing changes, and capacity decisions to inform business cases and recommendations.

Asset Performance Interface (Non-Ownership)

  • Leverage asset KPIs (e.g., fleet utilization, dormant assets, miles per tractor, trailer utilization) as key inputs to financial and service analysis.

  • Identify and articulate asset-driven risks, constraints, or inefficiencies that impact cost-to-serve or service performance.

  • Partner with Asset Management to inform prioritization and execution of actions; does not own asset procurement, lifecycle, or maintenance programs.

Safety KPI Visibility & Reporting (Limited Scope)

  • Consume safety program outputs to ensure safety-related KPIs are integrated into dashboards, scorecards, and performance discussions.

  • Maintain accurate reporting of safety metrics to support balanced performance management across Safety, People, Service, Asset Management, and Expense Control.

  • No ownership of accident investigations, coaching, or disciplinary actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in transportation, private fleet, or supply chain operations

  • Experience with KPI architecture, metric definition, and performance governance

  • Experience in Financial analysis, budgeting, variance explanation, forecasting and operational analytics

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel

  • Microsoft PowerPoint and executive-level presentation and communication

  • Travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred: 10–15 years of experience in large, multi-site retail or distribution environments

  • Preferred: Experience supporting refrigerated fleets and multi-stop retail delivery networks

  • Telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara)

  • Routing and transportation optimization tools

  • Yard Management Systems (YMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Google Cloud–based analytics environments

  • Power BI, ThoughtSpot, or similar BI tools

  • SQL or advanced analytics workflows

  • Executive dashboard and scorecard development

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Analytics, or a related field

  • Preferred: Professional certifications in Supply Chain, Transportation, Lean, or Six Sigma
