Position Summary:
The Distinguished Engineer, AI Platform will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for architecting and evolving the enterprise AI platform infrastructure. This role combines deep technical expertise in platform engineering with AI/ML systems to enable scalable, secure, and governed AI capabilities across the organization.
The position demands deep technical expertise in application architecture, with a strong emphasis on automation and artificial intelligence (AI). The role involves architecting scalable platforms that intelligently manage enterprise architecture, data, and AI capabilities. This leader collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders across engineering, data, security, and governance to shape the technical strategy and innovation roadmap for the AI Platform.
The ideal candidate brings a forward-thinking mindset, a passion for emerging technologies, and a proven ability to translate complex business needs into impactful digital solutions. This leader leads the design, development, and implementation of advanced solutions for the AI Platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement the overall technicalstrategyand design principles for theAI Platform.
Evaluate and recommend technology platforms, frameworks, and tools that align with strategic business goals.
Define, engineer,and implement strategicautomation and AI use casesthat enhance AI capabilities for the organization
Engage in research and development activities to explorenew technologies, conductproofs-of-concept, andidentifyinnovative solutions to advanceAI Platformcapabilities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design,engineering,and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between technical decisions and businessobjectives.
Provide technical leadership andexpertiseto guide the organization in adopting andleveragingemerging technologies.
Required Qualifications :
The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of enterprise AI platform development, as well as significant interaction with business leaders. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:
15+ years ofrelevant workexperience inSoftware Engineeringor related fields.
7+ years of experience in deep problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
5+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
2+ years of experience with AI/ML systems, including LLM integration or AI platform development.
Proven experience building enterprise-scale platforms from scratch supporting thousands of developers and high-volume workloads.
Experience inmanaging complex projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills; proventrack recordof designing and implementing large-scale automation solutions within complex organizational structure.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience defining AI platform strategy and roadmaps at an enterprise level.
Understanding ofgovernance frameworks and best practices for ensuring compliance.
Demonstrated experience in driving automation and data strategies that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities.
Expertise indata architecture, including the design of data models and metadata standards.
Background in building internal developer platforms (IDP) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions.
Experience with data platform technologies (streaming, data mesh, modern data architectures).
Distributed systems: Consensus protocols, high-availability architectures, and scalablemicroservicesdesign.
Developer platform capabilities: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and developer experience tooling.
Experience leading large engineering organizations or platform teams.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related discipline.
Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$175,100.00 - $334,750.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
