Role Description
CVS/Oak Street Health is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Decision Sciences team. This team is responsible for delivering data-driven solutions to optimize Oak Street Health’s innovative care model and ultimately improve patient outcomes. This team works with many stakeholders across the organization in a fast-paced, agile environment leveraging cutting-edge technology to reimagine how healthcare is provided. As a Data Scientist, you will work with other data scientists and analysts on prospective study designs & execution, ROI assessments, and clinical program evaluations & optimizations. You will be involved in creating statistical analysis plans in partnership with program stakeholders and presenting results to a diverse audience. As a member of our team, you will make an immediate impact as you help expand our data science capabilities across our whole care model.
Core Responsibilities:
Utilize advanced mathematical and statistical methods to solve business problems under the supervision of senior data scientists
Execute exploratory data analysis to validate and quantify trends identified by partner organizations.
Develop insights, visualizations, and other data artifacts that support broader data science initiatives
Wrangle and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets in a highly repeatable fashion
Demonstrate strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and a positive, solution-oriented attitude

Minimum Requirements:
3 years of demonstrated experience conducting statistical analysis and machine learning to answer research or business questions (1+ years if candidate has a Masters or PhD)
3 years of experience in SQL and Python programming (1+ years if candidate has a Masters or PhD)
Demonstrated ability to decompose multi-tier problems into actionable steps
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience working with large datasets, analyzing data, and extracting meaningful insights
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analytical findings to diverse audiences
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with Google Cloud Computing (GCP)
Experience with BigQuery
Experience working with medical data sets
Experience working with data engineering/MLOps teams to productionalize data science models
Familiarity with version control (e.g., GitHub) and ML Platforms (e.g., Databricks, GCP Vertex AI, etc.)
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and value-based models of health care
Familiarity with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
Education:
- A PhD or a Master’s degree with 1+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in a STEM field such as Operations Research/ Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$64,890.00 - $173,040.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
