Saint-Gobain Production Asset Analysis & Operations Mapping Intern in WORCESTER, Massachusetts
This summer internship supports the Bonded Abrasives Operations team through a structured asset inventory and operations mapping initiative . The intern will collect, organize, and analyze production asset data across Plant 7 and Plant 8 , helping build a fact‑based foundation for a 3‑year investment and improvement roadmap . This role offers hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, asset management, and data-driven decision-making.
Essential Functions
Complete a comprehensive assets inventory for Plant 7 and Plant 8 to support long-term operational and capital planning
Deliver a standardized asset inventory procedure , organized and detailed by:
Machine type
Asset age
End-use sales / products
Hours of work and production output
Spare parts and maintenance expenses
Breakdown and reliability analysis
Produce a clear, well-structured analysis document that will serve as the baseline for the creation of a 3-year BA investment roadmap
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in a two or four-year accredited degree program, preferably in Industrial Engineering; Operations Management; Supply Chain Management; Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to organize large amounts of operational data into structured insights
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools
Strong written communication skills for documentation and reporting
Preferred: Coursework or experience in manufacturing, operations, or asset management
Preferred: Familiarity with production equipment, maintenance concepts, or reliability metrics
Preferred: Exposure to process mapping, operational analysis, or continuous improvement methods

The internship provides professional development opportunities and valuable applied learning in a manufacturing production setting. - The individual will work under the direction the BA/SA Director of Operations. -
This is an opportunity for an intern to get exposure to various aspects that they have learned in the classroom with the real-life experiences of activities at Saint-Gobain Bonded & Super Abrasives. -This internship will also provide:
• - -Build real-world CAD automation skills by developing parametric models and automated outputs-
• - -Strengthen technical documentation habits used in engineering design environments-
• - -Collaborate across distributed teams (mix of on-site and remote stakeholders)

The hourly rate for internship positions ranges from $19.00 to $24.00 per hour .- However, the actual rate provided is determined by the student’s- and their degree program (Engineering or Other – Business, etc.).
