The Medical Receptionist - Radiology and Central Check-In will be responsible for checking in, scheduling appointments, answering billing questions and managing patient medical records for a clinic with a focus on Radiology. Role may vary based on the size of the clinic(s).
Standard hours: FT 38.75 hours
Schedule: Monday - Friday, will be required to work a 7.75-hour shift between the business hours of 6am - 5pm. May be asked to work occasional Saturday shift of 6:30-3:00 PM when coverage is required. May need to work an occasional night shift when coverage is required. Schedule will be determined by Supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities:
Verifies and authorizes patient insurance coverage and eligibility
Updates demographics and other patient information including necessary consent and other documents
Collects and posts patient co-payments and other outstanding balances. Maintains collection records and makes daily cash deposits as assigned
Schedules patients accurately, according to department protocols and provider preference
Provides education, estimate preparation and other pre-appointment instruction as needed
Provides routine information on procedures and standard policies and refers matters to the appropriate person within the department/site
Resolves patients' questions regarding clinic schedules and billing concerns
Performs cashier functions, end of day processing and reconciliation and prepares accurate site deposit
Accurately and appropriately documents information in the electronic medical record system
Receives and processes incoming and outgoing insurance referral requests based on department protocol. Collaborates with staff, patients, and providers as needed to ensure patients have completed referrals and signed waivers as necessary. May enter referral information into Epic System
Completes follow-up and documentation as needed
Performs appropriate action regarding No Show, Cancellations, Recall, Waitlist and Reschedule lists, per established guidelines. Follows up with the patient, provider, etc. as needed
Processes personal in-basket and department pool encounter in Epic in a timely and appropriate manner
In conjunction with department leadership and training, acts as an educator to new PSS staff
Processes department and provider mail and faxes in a timely and appropriate manner
May escort patients to examination rooms
Able to identify when patient-related issues need urgent attention and escalate to nursing or provider and/or leadership as needed
Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives
Participates in learning opportunities provided through the learning management system
Participates in departmental meetings and huddles as directed by department leadership
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed
May be asked to provide coverage at nearby sites if needed

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel)
Access to reliable transportation and valid US driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a healthcare setting or other related administrative setting with one to three years of relevant office experience
Experience with electronic health records
Bilingual
Soft Skills:
Ability to think critically and exercise sound judgment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills
Willingness to learn and be an active member of a healthcare team
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
