Die Cutter Operator

General Purpose

Responsible for performing manual and machine tasks related to the setup, maintenance, and operation of die-cutting equipment to produce products that meet customer specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.

Essential Job Functions

\u2022 Demonstrate general knowledge and understanding of die-cutting processes and equipment

\u2022 Read job tickets to determine setup specifications and operating instructions

\u2022 Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments

\u2022 Follow all applicable standard operating procedures for the job, position, and department

\u2022 Perform routine adjustments during press runs to maintain consistent production

\u2022 Complete assigned work accurately and on schedule

\u2022 Follow instructions precisely

\u2022 Maintain daily production records using required forms

\u2022 Record production data, including time spent on specific tasks

\u2022 Maintain a clean and organized work area

\u2022 Open machines and remove or replace damaged product using hand tools

\u2022 Train team members on machine setup, operation, and safe use

\u2022 Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and troubleshooting

\u2022 Perform make-ready procedures

\u2022 Collaborate with team members across departments to maximize production efficiency

\u2022 Follow established department policies, procedures, work instructions, and safety and environmental guidelines

\u2022 Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

\u2022 Knowledge of Bobst die-cutting equipment preferred

\u2022 Minimum of two years\u2019 experience running board stock and paper on flatbed die cutters

\u2022 Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedural documents

\u2022 Basic computer skills, including data entry

\u2022 Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

\u2022 Ability to maintain reliable attendance

\u2022 Ability to pass color vision and color hue tests

\u2022 Ability to meet or pass mechanical aptitude testing or demonstrate mechanical aptitude through prior experience

\u2022 Ability to use pre-make-ready tables

\u2022 Ability to use measuring and inspection tools, including rulers, calipers, and micrometers

\u2022 Knowledge of size and location requirements for the nicking process

\u2022 Ability to identify common packaging defects, including cracking, sharpness, heavy scoring, misalignment, tearing, light cutting, loose fibers, and pressure marks

\u2022 Ability to create spotting sheets and stripping boards

\u2022 Knowledge of rubber and cork selection and application

\u2022 Knowledge of reknifing tools and techniques, including benders, bridgers, miters, and cutters

\u2022 Knowledge of tonnage adjustment during cutting operations

\u2022 Knowledge of underlay use and spotting techniques

\u2022 Knowledge of cube and manual tonnage operation

\u2022 Knowledge of 1mm counter plates and use of register pins

\u2022 Ability to repair dies by modifying creasing rules and cutting knives

\u2022 Knowledge of blind make-readies and associated processes

\u2022 Knowledge of counter plates, matrix, spotting tape, and underlaying techniques

\u2022 Willingness to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during peak periods

\u2022 Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
