Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting all incoming and outgoing shipments while strictly following standard operating procedures. This role manages material movement throughout the facility, supports pick-and-pack operations, maintains clean and organized warehouse and shipping areas, and verifies products, lot numbers, and truck conditions prior to shipment. Consistent attention to detail, accurate paperwork, and adherence to company procedures are essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload freight manually or using pallet jacks and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Verify items received against purchase orders to ensure accuracy of products, quantities, and lot numbers.

  • Deliver and retrieve products to and from work areas and storage locations throughout the facility.

  • Coordinate and plan appropriate receiving locations to optimize material flow and storage.

  • Track, store, and load recycling and other waste materials according to company procedures.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and orderly warehouse areas, with particular focus on shipping, receiving, and pick-and-pack zones.

  • Package, wrap, and prepare outgoing items for shipment in accordance with established SOPs and shipping requirements.

  • Verify that trucks arriving to pick up orders are clean and free of odors prior to loading.

  • Confirm that products and lot numbers match customer orders before releasing shipments.

  • Assist with pick-and-pack operations, including accurate order picking, packing, and order fulfillment, as needed.

  • Accurately complete all required shipping, receiving, and inventory paperwork and system entries.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety guidelines while handling products and working on the production floor.

  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and in compliance with company and OSHA requirements once certified.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area and promptly report any safety concerns.

  • Adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production and distribution environment while meeting deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of accurate order picking experience in a warehouse, distribution, or similar environment.

  • Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including order picking, packing, and order fulfillment.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly and handle heavier items with team assistance as required.

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and remain physically available for work for up to 10 hours a day.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong teamwork, coordination, organization, planning, and time management skills.

  • Ability to accurately maintain inventory records, documentation, and reporting.

  • Dependability and personal accountability to complete tasks on time and with a high level of accuracy.

  • Ability to follow instructions from multiple sources and adapt to fast-changing priorities in a production environment.

  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

  • Reliable transportation and a strong history of excellent attendance.

  • Ability to maintain and safely use warehouse equipment and obtain certification to operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.

  • Ability to safely use pallet jacks and other basic material-handling equipment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, and bend over for extended periods and perform repetitive reaching at, below, and above shoulder level with varying weights.

  • Ability to occasionally lift tools and equipment in the 50 to 100 pound range to a height of 4 to 5 feet with team assistance for weights over 50 pounds.

  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders and navigate various plant structures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards in a food production or food distribution environment is preferred.

  • Experience in food manufacturing, food processing, food packaging, or food industry logistics is beneficial.

  • Familiarity with shipping systems and shipping entry processes.

  • Experience in order processing, order selecting, and working as an order picker/packer.

  • Understanding of operational procedures in a temperature-controlled food manufacturing or distribution facility.

  • Strong attention to detail for verifying product, lot numbers, and documentation.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a production and warehouse setting.

  • Willingness to strictly follow OSHA requirements and company safety rules and regulations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled food manufacturing and distribution environment. The production floor is located in one building, while the warehouse operates in a separate building, requiring regular movement between the two areas. Work is performed primarily on the production floor and in warehouse shipping, receiving, and pick-and-pack zones. The position involves standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift, with physical availability required for up to 10 hours a day. Employees work around food manufacturing and packaging equipment and use material-handling tools such as pallet jacks and forklifts. The facility follows strict Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety standards, and OSHA safety requirements, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness, organization, and maintaining a safe, orderly work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodinville, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
