Compensation: Base salary starting at $130,000 annually, plus discretionary bonus and equity.
General Description:
Waste Connections of Canada is looking for a Region Maintenance Manager, Heavy Equipment (yellow iron) to work out of our Region Office located in Woodbridge, ON. As the Region Maintenance Manager, Heavy Equipment, you will be responsible for supporting and guiding our Canadian Heavy Equipment Maintenance professionals in preventative maintenance, repairs, warranty management, rebuilds, and dispositions of over 290 pieces of heavy equipment at our post collection facilities (i.e., landfills, transfer stations and material recovery facilities) across 6 provinces in Canada. This position requires a strong leader who can motivate, support, coach and train our maintenance professionals to uphold the company’s values and meet or exceed company goals.
As the Region Maintenance Manager, Heavy Equipment, the minimum responsibilities are:
Ensure adherence to Waste Connections’ safety standards and policies
Ensure adherence to Waste Connections preventive maintenance standards and policies.
Proficiently navigate and utilize Heavy Equipment Maintenance Software programs
Mentor site heavy equipment maintenance professionals throughout the Canadian Region.
Communicate and work collaboratively with other Regional Heavy Equipment Maintenance Managers and corporate heavy equipment support personnel across the company
Support the Canadian Region in monthly financial projections and annual budgets
Generate reports to proactively identify trends and issues occurring in the Region
Conduct compliance audits and implement standardization across processes.
Review capital repair needs and provide actionable recommendations.
Assess new capital requirements, make sourcing recommendations, and manage procurement.
Oversee warranty management and ensure policy recapturing for cost efficiency.
Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
Support national accounts with operational and technical requirements.
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance team capabilities.
Approve asset transfer and disposal requests in accordance with company policies.
Further develop and improve our maintenance programs and software
What We Need From You:
3-5 years minimum experience in a leadership or management position
Experience in heavy equipment maintenance, repairs, warranties, rebuilds, and dispositions.
Outstanding teambuilding and communication skills.
Outstanding relationship building & problem resolution with vendors, dealerships and manufacturers
Ability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise multiple projects from concept to completion.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to travel (approximately 50%) to different districts/regions across Canada will be required.
Licensed 421A would be an asset
Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
