Job Summary:
Directs and programs the overall maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of Infrastructure Engineering’s maintenance-of-way (MOW) equipment, determining the needs of materials and manpower.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Formulates and prepares justifications for major MOW equipment purchases and mid-life rebuilds.
Conducts trends analysis, identifying failure areas and developing course of action to handle repairs using fleet software, databases and spread sheets. Maintains fleet software updates and changes.
Directs the establishment of maintenance practices involving specifications for engineering materials, work equipment and rolling stock by monitoring industry changes and keeping current with the latest technological changes.
Monitors equipment utilization and availability to assure all capital project equipment needs are met and line maintenance operations are supported.
Oversees MOW activities involving the safe use of equipment and ensures adherence to NJ TRANSIT policies and procedures. Manages crisis situations and emergencies.
Develops specifications and quality control standards for material, work equipment purchases and rebuilds and Non-Revenue Rolling Stock Programs by following American Railway Engineering Association and NJ TRANSIT procedure and ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Directs all quality control inspections for new equipment and lease/rental inspections for infrastructure engineering.
Oversees the operation and maintenance of the Wood-Ridge Maintenance Complex
This Position Supervises:
- Agreement repair personal
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
Five (5) years applied progressive experience with increasing responsibility in facilities management, to include three (3) years of supervisory experience
One year of closely related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
Knowledge &Skills:
Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures for electrical/electronic, mechanical, diesel and hydraulic/pneumatic systems is required
Experience working for a railroad company desired.
