Job description

Safran Wolverhampton manufactures advanced actuation systems for the aerospace industry, utilising a wide range of high-tech machinery, plant, and equipment. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary maintenance team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum uptime of critical production equipment and site services through both reactive and planned maintenance activities.

Shift: Permanent Nights – Monday to Thursday

• Perform reactive repairs and planned maintenance on CNC equipment, including controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Okuma, and Mitsubishi.

• Maintain and repair hydraulic test systems, including control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, National Instruments) and associated instrumentation such as load cells, torque transducers, and pressure transducers.

• Support maintenance of process equipment, including Heat Treatment and Plating facilities.

• Interpret and work from electrical schematics and technical documentation.

• Understand and work with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and drawings.

• Conduct electrical fault finding, diagnosis, repairs, and modifications.

• Support key facility and infrastructure systems.

• Operate flexibly within a multi-skilled maintenance environment when required.

• Apply safe, efficient, and effective maintenance practices to maximise equipment availability.

• Liaise with external service providers and parts suppliers.

• Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of breakdowns and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Candidate skills & requirements

• Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery.

• Broad understanding of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

• Experience with a range of industrial systems and maintenance practices.

• Knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) legislation.

• Proven experience in a Maintenance and/or Service Engineer role.

• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and fault-finding expertise.

• Competence in the use of various measuring and diagnostic equipment.

• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft applications and CMMS systems.

• Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• ONC/HNC or City & Guilds in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

• Time-served apprenticeship qualified to NVQ Level 3.
