We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity Post Open Heart Recovery Unit in Winston-Salem, NC. This role is ideal for nurses with strong CVICU or open-heart experience who thrive in fast-paced critical care environments.
Position Details
Specialty: CVICU / Post Open Heart Recovery
Shift: Nights – 4x12s (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float Requirement: Yes
Scrubs: Navy, white, or combination
Traveler Info: No first-time travelers
Compensation
Local Rate: $43/hour
Travel Package (Approx. $2,598/week):
$26/hour taxable
$476/week meals stipend
$770/week housing stipend
Unit & Patient Population
Post open-heart patients received directly from the OR
Thoracotomies, esophagogastrostomies, and TAVR patients
CRRT, Impella, and IABP
High-acuity cardiovascular ICU setting
Required Experience
Active RN license (state practicing)
Minimum 2 years of CC/CVICU experience
Must have CVICU or open-heart experience
Strong skills in:
Hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz, arterial lines)
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
ECMO, IABP
Ventilator management & ABG interpretation
Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Blood product administration
Central line care
Continuous IV sedation
Required Certifications
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Systems & Technology
EMR: Epic
Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Communication: SBAR
Scheduling: Self-Scheduling
