Role: Field Services Tech

Location: Remote

• Assist in the support of servers, network devices and mainframes at all facilities for hardware or software errors

• Support Java, WebSphere & File Transfer applications

• Execute diagnostic tests to monitor the health and performance of computer systems and communications equipment

• Provide network support for WAN and IP Telephony networks

• Monitor help desk calls and assist in the in resolution of problems; escalate problems to internal technical groups as appropriate

• Interface with vendors and clients to repair and resolve installation issues

• Support wide-area services and other communication lines, for all customer communication links

• Coordinate and participate in Disaster Recovery exercises

• Implement changes in customer facing environments as needed

-Triaging, troubleshooting and resolving escalated production issues on a complex mission critical application as per SOP (guideline)

• Create documentation that will troubleshoot internal networks and systems efficiently

• Proactively contact participants when surveillance systems identify connectivity issues

• Implement and participate in Disaster Recovery exercises

• Support release implementation, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and disaster recovery testing

• Prepare Operations for the implementation or decommission of services

• Engage with other technical teams and assist/develop technical solution for integration projects

• Perform root cause analysis of issues as needed

• Develop runbooks for recurring issues, system implementation, shutdown and recovery

• 3+ years of experience/ working knowledge about networking devices like Cisco routers switches

• 4+ years of experience with Red Hat Linux and in an enterprise environment, Application support / knowledge or experience working with IBM MQ (messaging middleware)

• Strong working knowledge of Linux commands, shell scripting and database queries

• 2 to 3 years’ experience/ knowledge about WebSphere Application server

• 2 to 3 years’ experience with working with or having knowledge about Database (DB2 preferred)

• Hands on experience using various versions of Windows Servers

• Hands on experience analyzing and debugging issues as it applies to Cisco switches and routers

• Hands on experience with JAVA server-side technology and J2EE App server preferably WebSphere

Desirable Qualifications (Nice to have):

• Certification on Red Hat linux

• CCNA, CCNP, MCSE and ITIL certification

• Unisys Mainframe Experience

• IMB MQ and Connect Direct experience

• Linux Shell Scripting

• Experience with credit card processing applications, digital wallets, emerging payments, mobile payments will be added advantage

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 3/6/2026

The annual salary for this position is between $90,000- $100,800 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
