NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is looking for a Submerged Arc Seam Welder 1 to join our Transportation & Infrastructure (Pole) team. The Submerged Arc Seam Welder 1 is responsible for the set-up and operation of a submerged arc seam welding machine to place a continuous weld on one or two sides of pole shafts. This would be for our PW5 or our PW2 Pole Welder.

Salary Range: $22.95 – 27.00 per hour (Non-Exempt)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Thursday 5am – 3pm
Shift Differential: 1st shift – N/A
As a Submerged Arc Seam Welder 1, you will:
Fuse (weld) Stainless metal pole shafts together by means of Submerged Arc Welding process in the fabrication of steel poles
Performs welding operations requiring most of the following:
Working from prints and drawings or other specifications
Requires a knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals
Setting up work and determining operation sequences
Welding objects involving critical safety and load requirements
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment
Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
Use hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of work
Move pole shafts using an overhead crane
Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence
Enter job data in production tracking system
Must be AWS SAW certified within 90 days
Weld quality from this operator consistently pass NDT examination
Escalates equipment or quality issues
Role Qualifications as a Submerged Arc Seam Welder 1:
Experience with Stainless Steel TIG welding
Successful completion of AWS certified SAW within 90 days
Prefer graduation from an accredited trade school for welding
Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork in English
Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
Working knowledge of weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals
Ability to perform basic shop math functions
Ability to set up work and determine operation sequence
Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
Ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
Physical Demands:
This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). This position requires that the individual can lift a minimum of 50lbs. And, if applicable, can maneuver large, cumbersome equipment with the use of an overhead crane and/or forklift. Must be able to work in, on, or around equipment and machinery. The employee may need to perform work with the use of ladders.
