Millerbernd Manufacturing Co. Structural Engineer in Winsted, Minnesota
NOW HIRING: We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Transportation & Infrastructure (Pole) team. A Structural Engineer is r esponsible for improving manufacturing processes and equipment to increase capacity, positively affect safety, quality and efficiency. This position is “hands-on” and involves collaborating with manufacturing employees in a metal fabrication production environment. This is an onsite opportunity in Winsted, MN.
Job Title: Structural Engineer
Location: Winsted, MN (on-site)
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year (Exempt)
(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)
Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday Business Hours
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
As a Structural Engineer, you will:
Assess new product manufacturability. This includes gathering specifications and details from multiple sources, design, mockups, testing, applying knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and providing recommendations regarding internal production and outsourcing.
Identify, recommend, and implement manufacturing process improvements that positively affect capacity, safety, quality, and efficiency.
Be able to identify design problems and understand how to resolve them
Perform structural engineering calculations based on various loading conditions
Coordinate calculations, drawings and other documents for submittal purposes
Provide innovative recommendations regarding manufacturing enhancements
Contribute to the development and implementation of standard work in manufacturing operations
Lead meetings as required to gather information, communicate project progress and drive continuous improvements in the manufacturing environment
Contribute / participate in Kaizen events
Serve as a technical representative to strategic and long term planning efforts
Role Qualifications as a Structural Engineer:
Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and more than 5 years of practical application of structural engineering principles
Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered
Understand Millerbernd's legacy processing methods and requirements
Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods
Computer literate, particularly using Excel and other MS Office applications
Proficient in the use of SolidWorks or other similar solid modeling software
Thorough understanding of static loads and wind loads
Experience in both ASD design and LRFD Design for structural analysis
Ability to identify root causes, make decisions and solve problems
Conceive, detail and implement projects
Deliver work products under limited supervision with a sense of urgency
Use effective and appropriate written and oral communication skills including giving presentations and leading meetings
Demonstrate efficient project management skills to prioritize activities and meet deadlines
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Adapt to changing work priorities
Work with others as part of a high performance team
