Under the direction and supervision of the Radiology Manager. Responsible for performing Cat Scan examinations of the body to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Performs general departmental duties, per diem employee.
Requirements
- Meets as needed with the supervisor concerning policies and procedures, rules and regulations, supplies, equipment, needs and problems.
- Complies with the established policies and procedures.
- Keep a good line of communication with all necessary parties.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all patients.
- Cooperates with department staff to achieve goals, maintains good employee relations, interdepartmental and public relations.
- Attends meetings as required and stays current with hospital safety.
- Keeps up to date in the field of Cat Scan Technology.
- Has basic knowledge of cross sectional anatomy
- Receives and reviews daily CT orders, verifying that appropriate exam is ordered to correspond with ordering diagnosis and history.
- Prioritizes stat exams.
- Notifies nursing on exams of any required preps and dispenses appropriate preps.
- Transports patient to and from the CT suite.
- Obtains consent for intravenous injection of contrast media documenting any contra- indications.
- Venipuncture skills and may administer contrast media. Operates the CT injector and applies appropriate rates.
- Operates the CT scanner and selects appropriate study for the lowest possible dose
- Willing to cross train X-Ray into CT
