Position Overview:

This position assists with all snow removal logistics, coordinating, and directing the snow removal vendor. This will include operating a bobcat, plow truck, and various snow equipment. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the Winona Health Automotive Fleet. This position requires the individual to maintain the lawns, shrubbery, flowers, parking lots, sidewalks, and the equipment necessary to provide the above-listed requirements. This individual must have good communication and comprehension skills and the ability to work well independently. T he Boiler Apprentice/Maintenance Technician provides maintenance services at the Winona Health main campus and various sites in Winona and Rushford. Duties include maintenance/calibration work on air handling units, air conditioners, pneumatic and electronic control systems, minor electrical work, air balancing/pressure differentials, and general facility maintenance. This position will be required to obtain a special boiler engineer license within 3 months of date of hire, a 2B boiler engineer license within 2 years of date of hire, and a 1B boiler engineer license within 5 years of date of hire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the appearance of Winona Health exterior building and grounds. Responsible for the upkeep and grooming of lawn, shrubbery and flowers as well as the cleanliness and appearance of the parking areas, sidewalks, public areas and building exterior.

  • Inspects grounds for safety hazards to include, but not limited to, the upkeep of sidewalks in all weather conditions. Repair and follow-through on the elimination of these hazards in a timely manner using established safety guidelines.

  • Maintains all groundskeeping equipment in clean and operable condition. Equipment to include, but not limited to, lawn mowers and tractors, sprinkler systems, snow removal tools, and hand tools used to perform the functions of this position.

  • Manage gardens each year; installing annuals in all landscape beds to add color to the entire campus. These must be maintained adequately each year adequately with watering and trimming of weeds.

  • Event Setup and supervision from a Facility/Safety perspective from start to finish (fire events at LWM and Watkins, Firework events, etc.)

  • Effectively communicates both verbally and through written documentation.

  • Completes work orders, preventative maintenance reports, work system reports, and other documentation in a complete and timely manner.

  • Communicates necessary information to team members as necessary.

  • Maintains, installs, and calibrates pneumatic and electronic control systems.

  • A member of the Assistance Needed team and the fire response team

  • Attends caregiver meetings and completes the education requirements of Winona Health

    Skills and Experience:

    Required:

  • High school/GED/equivalent

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Competencies for hand tool safety, lawn mower/tractor/ bobcat safety

  • All Winona Health required training.

  • Basic computer skills.

    Preferred:

  • Coursework in the industrial arts or agriculture fields.

  • At least 2 years’ experience with snow removal, automotive maintenance, and bobcat work

  • 1st Class B Engineer's license

  • Experience in programming and building automation systems.

    Required Work Schedule:

    Scheduled work hours are typically Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility. Off hours and weekend required as needed to meet the needs of the department and Winona Health.
