As a Structural Engineer, you will design and develop body (floor) structures in CAD and support prototype builds. You will be instrumental in concept generation, mock-ups, and all prototype, design verification, and process verification builds. Your role will involve planning for design, procurement, assembly, and validation requirements, ensuring alignment with overall project timing and deliverables. You will ensure that designs conform to quality and cost targets, suggesting low-cost alternatives and supporting design commonization efforts. Additionally, you will collaborate in the design of body structure fixtures and lead design reviews with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Design and develop body (floor) structures in CAD.
Support prototype builds and concept generation.
Participate in all prototype, design verification, and process verification builds.
Plan for design, procurement, assembly, and validation requirements.
Ensure designs conform to quality and cost targets.
Suggest low-cost design alternatives.
Support design commonization efforts.
Collaborate in designing body structure fixtures.
Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
Experience with structural design.
Sheet metal experience.
5 years of work experience within design, preferably in the automotive industry.
Previous assembly plant launch experience preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
5 years’ work experience in automotive body structures design is preferred.
Experience with joining methods (welding).
Dimensional management and understanding of GD&T preferred.
Work Environment
This role requires working onsite at the Winamac facility, alongside the product development engineers at a higher level. The company specializes in making vehicles wheelchair accessible and is currently working on converting SUVs like the Chevy Traverse. When hired directly, the company offers a 5% 401k match and an annual bonus of 5-10% based on company performance.

This is a Permanent position based out of Winamac, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Their will be a variety of ways to build a variety skillsets that you can use to grow internally or take with you. They will give you automotive experience and manufacturing for consumer products as well. They have a company 401k match up to 40%. Good work environement.
