Job Title: Material Planning Analyst
Salary Grade: £31,400 – £36,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Wimborne, Dorset (office-based)

About Us
Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd is located on the outskirts of Wimborne within the Ferndown and Uddens Business Improvement District, ideally positioned along the south coast with excellent national and international transport links.
With approximately 130 employees, the site has over 50 years of heritage manufacturing marine propulsion and auxiliary engines under the renowned Cat® and Perkins Marine ® brands. The Wimborne facility produces genset packages ranging from 1.5 litre to 7.1 litre, as well as 7.1 litre propulsion engines.
Our highly skilled designers, engineers, and technicians deliver solutions for commercial, leisure, and military customers. From design and testing through to build, every engine is fully proven before leaving the site, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability for our customers.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Material Planning Analyst to join our Supply Chain team in Wimborne. This role is critical in ensuring the on-time delivery of purchased components from a global supplier base, supporting both production and aftermarket demand.
You will collaborate closely with suppliers and internal teams including procurement, engineering, and operations, using planning and supplier collaboration tools to maintain material availability, respond effectively to change and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Minimal travel required (UK-based supplier reviews)
39 hours per week over 4.5 days
What You Will Do
Plan and coordinate the timely delivery of materials to support production and aftermarket requirements
Collaborate with suppliers to align delivery schedules, resolve issues and improve overall supply performance
Use planning and supplier collaboration tools to manage demand changes and ensure continuity of supply
Analyse material availability issues, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Partner with procurement, engineering and material support teams to manage new product introductions and engineering changes
Support supplier improvement initiatives using agreed performance metrics and data
Communicate effectively across multiple functions to manage priorities and deliver results
What You Bring
Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP)
Understanding of material planning principles and MRP-based systems
Experience working with supplier planning and scheduling processes
Exposure to production planning, procurement, or inbound logistics
Ability to work with data and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI)
Analytical & Communication Skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve material availability issues
Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly share information and insights
Proven ability to collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams
Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment, managing competing priorities and responding constructively to challenges in a busy operational role
Systems & Problem Solving
Confident, intermediate-level use of Microsoft Office applications
Experience using SAP planning functions
Experience supporting change activities such as engineering changes or new product introductions
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
