Job Summary:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager / Strategic Buyer is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, quality, and compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role leads category strategies, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and cost‑reduction initiatives while partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management.
The position focuses on long‑term value creation through supplier partnerships, risk management, and data‑driven decision‑making across direct materials, indirect spend, or assigned commodities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Lead RFQs, RFPs, supplier selection, and sourcing decisions for assigned commodities or programs
Create and manage purchase orders for key suppliers
Analyze market trends, cost drivers, and supply risks to inform sourcing decisions
Establish dual‑source and risk‑mitigation strategies for critical materials
Lead supplier negotiations covering pricing, lead time, commercial terms, and long‑term agreements
Manage strategic supplier relationships, including performance reviews and corrective actions
Partner with Engineering and Quality on supplier qualification, audits, and continuous improvement
Support supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and cost performance
Identify and execute cost‑reduction initiatives, including VAVE, should‑cost analysis, and supplier consolidation
Track, validate, and report realized and forecasted cost savings
Support annual operating plan (AOP) goals and long‑range cost‑reduction targets
Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Program teams to support NPI and production
Support manufacturing continuity during supply disruptions
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contract terms, export controls, and government regulations
Maintain accurate sourcing, supplier, and pricing data in SAP and related systems
Support internal and external audits as required
Required Qualifications
You must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain
Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations and sourcing initiatives
Experience in a manufacturing and/or regulated environment
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
SAP or ERP sourcing experience
Knowledge of contract terms, pricing structures, and supplier agreements
Experience supporting NPI, supplier qualification, and supply chain risk management
CPSM, CSCP, or similar professional certification
Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
