We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled OpenStack Private Cloud Infrastructure / Operations Engineer to maintain, monitor, and optimize our enterprise private cloud infrastructure across data centers. This role blends hands-on infrastructure operations with a forward-thinking approach to automation, observability, and service reliability. You will collaborate closely with IT, Security, and Application teams to ensure system uptime, performance, and scalability while helping drive modernization and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) initiatives.
This is a remote position, but the ability to work US Pacific Time Zone hours is required.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide daily operational support for hypervisors and virtualized storage devices across on-premises and cloud environments to ensure high availability and performance.
Perform incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management for infrastructure issues.
Design and implement scalable architectures supporting both current operations and future growth.
Maintain, enhance, and tune system monitoring and alerting tools to improve visibility and responsiveness.
Apply system patches, firmware updates, and configuration management changes in a controlled manner.
Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible to increase efficiency and consistency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy infrastructure changes in production and test environments.
Participate in an on-call rotation for critical system support.
Contribute to capacity planning, performance optimization, and service availability initiatives.
Develop and maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and incident resolutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in infrastructure or system operations within enterprise environments
Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server administration.
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (OpenStack)
Hands-on experience with monitoring and automation tools.
Proficiency in performance tuning and system observability across hypervisor environments.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP).
Understanding of network administration, cybersecurity best practices, and Proficiency in identifying and executing automation and in use of associated tools: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Jenkins, and Git
Experience with DevOps and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
Knowledge of identity and access management (Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP) preferred.
Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills:
OpenStack certifications (e.g., COA, CKA).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible).
Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, enterprise security standards, and compliance-driven operations.
Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure or cloud migration projects.
Understanding of security and compliance frameworks (ISO, NIST, SOC 2).
Passion for automation, self-healing infrastructure, and continuous improvement.
