Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The role of a Maintenance Mechanic involves performing and supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, and fabrication work. The position coordinates and performs general repairs and preventive maintenance on processing equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance on equipment.
Connect and/or disconnect motors.
Operate test instruments and tools such as drill presses, saws, grinders, etc.
Perform basic stick and torch welding.
Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment.
Oversee the activities of hourly Mechanics and Maintenance Helpers.
Maintain compliance with safety standards for equipment.
Promote safety and good housekeeping practices.
Ensure compliance with plant rules and regulations.
Install new equipment as required.
Essential Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of processing operations.
Excellent mechanical and/or electrical skills.
Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good planning and organization skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum High School diploma with some technical school preferred.
3-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical experience.
2-3 years of experience in processing environment preferred.

Work Environment
This position is within a tobacco company where some areas have strong tobacco and flavoring smells. The production environment may be a bit cloudy or dusty when running, but conditions are generally manageable. The role requires working a weekend shift: Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 7 PM, and Monday 7 AM- 3 PM with OT available during weekday hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilson, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.
