Senior Engineer – Materials Engineering
The Senior Materials Engineer will work within the Field Services Engineering (FSE) Materials team to support all business units within GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH)/Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) across Nuclear Engineering. The role involves technical support developing new material technology, new plant design efforts, materials selection, manufacturing, characterizing material behavior, and performing design analyses for both plant and nuclear fuel applications. This role requires a high degree of work management rigor, technical problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration with other teams within both GVH and GNF businesses and functions.
Roles and responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plant and fuel related materials deliverables within both GVH and GNF businesses.
Work with other engineering leaders to advance risk-informed designs, as needed
Perform technical evaluations, analyses and verifications in the areas of BWR nuclear plant and fuel material applications.
Perform work in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures
Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues
Support Company initiatives
Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Material Science, Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical or similar).
Minimum 8 years of experience in a technology or engineering role
The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered
Ability and willingness totraveltodomesticand internationalplantsites.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
Desired Qualifications:
Operating at a senior level within the organization with unwavering focus on safety and quality
Experience in specific technology areas: BWR plant and fuel material processing, testing, and in-service performance behavior.
Experience with BWR and/or PWR materials technology and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
Project management training & experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Primavera
Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
Team player with strong leadership capabilities
Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets
Strong external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industry
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
Six Sigma, Lean, or equivalent quality training

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
