Novant Health Manager Patient Access in Wilmington, North Carolina
What We Offer
Manages and provides leadership to all patient access onsite staff within all registration points for a specific facility. Responsible for effecting ongoing quality, productivity and efficiency by actively managing operations of designated areas within the Department of Patient Access. Responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing the same. Responsible for interacting with CBO to expedite billing and Collections process work as facility liaison between hospital and CBO.

Business Acumen: Maintains organizational policy and procedure, including rules of conduct. Ensures staffing and work assignments are balanced with workload requirements and budget capabilities. Ensures payroll processes are in place for areas of responsibilities and consistent with Novant standards. Ensures staff performance reviews are completed timely. Proficient with all compliance and regulatory components involved with patient insurance and healthcare organizations and ensures that Novant Health meets our standards as prescribed by governing bodies Quality Improvement: Demonstrates knowledge of process improvement principles and applies appropriately to improvement activities. Monitors quality of core processes in the department. Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired outcomes. Continuously improve processes and systems, ensures quality patient and guest relations. Manages the interdependence of processes both within and external to the department. Develops ways to strengthen processes that require coordination between functions within designated area of responsibility. Embraces change and shows imagination through creative solutions and is able to implement and demonstrate improvement Customer Service: Holds staff accountable for customer service standards and ensures service recovery when needed. Human Resources: Provides ongoing informal and formal feedback to direct reports consistent with organizational policies and procedures. Provides on-going and annual feedback on performance, including performance improvement plan. Assures completion of required credentialing /skills validation for competency assessment. Ensures staff compliance with organizational policy and procedure. Coaches and counsels employees to achieve success in their roles. Ensures compliance with business conventions and regulations. Facilitates activities to meet identified staff learning needs. Facilitates staff involvement in management of processes. Involves staff in decision making within area. Facilitates involvement on project/PI teams. Educates staff on annual Scheduling/Revenue Cycle changes and changes in regulatory and reimbursement requirements. Assists in the interviewing and selection process. Ensures staffing and work assignments are balanced with workload requirements and budget capabilities. Monitors and identifies opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency in human and material resource utilization. Looks for ways to streamline the process to enhance the customer experience. Financial: Manages positions within the department to achieve quality and productivity, and meet budget.
What We're Looking For
Education: 4 Year Bachelor's Degree, required.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance and/or pre-certification, or related experience in a revenue cycle medical environment, required.
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a heath care environment, required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Revenue Cycle Leader Accreditation by HFMA/NAHAM within one year of hire, required.
Additional Skills Required: All related regulatory/governing standards, policies, and procedures; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; ability to develop job descriptions, learning plans, give and receive feedback, and coach and counsel staff; staffing, scheduling, and payroll processes; customer feedback and impact on core processes; delegation, team building, decision making, conflict management, change management skills; verbal and written communication skills that are sensitive to diversities among age groups, cultures, and educational levels. Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed.
Additional Skills Preferred: Epic software experience.
