Actalent Manufacturing Engineer in Wilmington, Massachusetts

Summary:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering and project management skills in support of designing and developing new processes and equipment. This role will involve the scale-up and commercialization of new products, continual improvement of existing technologies, and optimal performance and troubleshooting of current operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong engineering support for the scale-up and development of new products and processes, ensuring timely transfer to Manufacturing through methods, procedures, and specifications.

  • Participate in continual improvement teams to develop process methods and controls, design/source equipment, conduct feasibility/developmental trials, execute validation requirements, draft documents/specifications/drawings, and provide on-the-job training.

  • Manage equipment and process validations, including protocol creation, test requirement identification, results analysis and presentation, and final report creation according to internal procedures and external regulations.

  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles and tools to drive continual improvement of key operational measures such as yield, velocity, takt time, inventory, and nonconformances.

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and QA groups to ensure production requirements are met and lead investigations related to nonconformances, CAPA's, complaints, and production troubleshooting.

  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate the status of engineering projects, progress towards goals and objectives, future opportunities, and current risks/alternatives to management.

  • Support the site in developing, training, and maintaining calibration/preventative maintenance programs and manufacturing process controls.

Essential Skills:

  • Manufacturing engineering experience

  • Process improvement expertise

  • Medical device manufacturing knowledge

  • Experience with CAPA and validation protocols

  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles

  • Experience with plastics manufacturing

  • Proficiency with PLC and lathe operations

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering position within a medical device manufacturing organization

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is a plus

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in CAD software

  • Experience with Servo and/or PLC applications and electro-mechanical systems

  • Thorough understanding of GMP/ISO requirements for medical device manufacturing operations and FDA-regulated quality systems

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
