Sargent & Lundy Engineering & Construction Corporate Counsel in Wilmington, Delaware
Description
Sargent & Lundy provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, design, and technical analysis for power generation, power delivery, and energy projects worldwide. We have a highly professional and experienced staff dedicated to the energy business.
We are seeking an in-house attorney to counsel our engineering and design teams on methods for mitigating engineering services and construction risks though contract and claim management.
The responsibilities for this Corporate Counsel position include:
Report directly to the General Counsel
Draft, review, and negotiate professional services contracts, EPC contracts (design-build), teaming agreements, other business agreements
Early claim monitoring and management, including identification of potential risks and recommending strategies for mitigation
Notify and cooperate with insurers to investigate, tender, and track claims and incidents
Manage outside counsel and litigation related to professional liability, personal injury, and contract disputes
Monitor and review pleadings, discovery, trial preparations, and settlement negotiations
Work directly with company stakeholders on the above legal activities
Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures
Advise on industry-specific regulations and laws
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in our Wilmington office and working remotely from home .
Qualifications
This position requires:
Juris Doctor (law) degree
At least 3 years of legal experience in the architect and engineering design or construction field.
Engineering degree (preferred)
Familiarity with general liability and professional liability insurance coverages (e.g. errors and omissions insurance)
Construction or professional services contracting experience

$112,410.00 - $162,710.00
