Wells Fargo Business Accountability Director- Model Risk & Technology Governance in WILMINGTON, Delaware

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Business Accountability Director to manage and develop teams responsible for Model Risk and Technology Governance teams. Candidate will provide expertise and consultative guidance across Model Risk, End User Computing, and Shadow IT. This role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating complex and high‑impact risks; driving risk management strategy and execution; and leading teams through highly complex challenges while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and control requirements. Success in this role requires deep experience in risk management, strong executive judgment, the ability to drive large-scale change, and the capability to partner effectively across the organization to deliver resilient, compliant, and outcome-focused solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Demonstrate executive leadership, expertise, and consulting on Model, End User Computing and Shadow IT risk identification, creating risk mitigation solutions and overseeing the execution of risk management routines.

  • Identify, assess, and help implement solutions for critical and complex business challenges to mitigate risk.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and risk control development by overseeing strategy and execution of all activities

  • Lead team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues related to higher risk deliverables; interpret and develop range of policies and procedures for functions with moderate to high complexity and risk

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and control requirements

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in business group

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of risk management, business controls, or compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in cross-functional team collaboration in Financial Services with an emphasis in Consumer Lending or Personal Loans

  • Extensive knowledge of various regression techniques, parametric and non-parametric algorithms and time series techniques and other statistical models and model validation

  • Thorough knowledge of the quantitative and qualitative risk factors, industry risks and competitive risks

  • Extensive experience with Model Risk, End User Computing and Shadow IT policy and related guidance

  • Experience in operational excellence and continuous process improvement

  • Experience in driving change at large organizations

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with a proven ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, as well as across various management levels within the organization.

  • Extensive experience in standards and controls including ensuring effective design, assessment, monitoring and self-assurance activities.

  • Expertise in leading and managing transformation efforts and demonstrated ability to lead the execution of large and complex initiatives

  • Ability to think strategically and pivot between multiple priorities with a focus on work product/outcomes

  • Experienced in building and leading high-performing teams and proven experience in developing talent

Candidate will be expected to work onsite from one of the stated locations listed in the job posting on a hybrid schedule.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
