Job Title:

Entry-Level Diesel Mechanic / Shop Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dependable, basic skills level Diesel Mechanic to support our Head Mechanic with daily maintenance and repair tasks. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their mechanical skills. The successful candidate will assist with equipment upkeep, perform routine maintenance, and take initiative in identifying tasks that need attention without constant supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Mechanic with diesel engine repairs and diagnostics
• Perform routine maintenance tasks as needed such as checking fluid levels, filter replacements, and battery checks
• Help inspect equipment and identify basic mechanical issues
• Take initiative to identify maintenance needs, shop inefficiencies, and areas requiring attention
• Maintain cleanliness of the yard.
• Organize and position machines and equipment in the yard for efficiency, accessibility, and safety
• Support general shop operations as needed.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take direction
• Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as with a team
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, inside and outside
• Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

• Experience working in a shop or mechanical environment
• Familiarity with customer service
• Experience driving heavy equipment

Work Environment:

• Shop and field environment with exposure to noise, grease, and varying weather conditions
• Physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Compensation:

• Based on experience
