Assistant Technology Director

Job Summary:

Assists staff members in using computers and technology in the education process and developing and maintaining computers and computer networks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists director in developing long range technology plan for the use of the present and emerging technology designed to improve the teacher and learning process.

Directs training or trains workers and school staff to operate computer and peripheral equipment as well as informs staff of technology news and training.

Cooperates with other instructional leaders to determine appropriate use of computers for instruction across the curriculum.

Facilitates the development of policies applicable to technology.

Represents district at relevant local, regional and state functions.

Installs, upgrades and maintains software.

Previews and evaluates new software and hardware, develops specifications for given application and matches software to classroom applications and needs.

Recommends changes in programs, routines and quality control standards to improve computer operating efficiency.

Provides basic support for district systems and software.

Provides training on a one-on-one basis and in classroom settings for all staff members.

Provides technical support for teachers, administrators and support staff to assist with problems and concerns that arise on a daily basis.

Provides training and support of instructional staff in the use of technology for their professional and classroom use. (Workshops, telephone support, classroom visitations, walk in support, etc.)

Planning and promotion of technology workshops and recording of teacher participation in such workshops.

Participation in planning and implementation of district, regional and statewide technology workshops and projects.

Helps in the evaluation and purchase of software and hardware that is used in the classrooms and labs in our school district.

Motivates classroom teachers to utilize technology in the classroom.

Advices grade level and curriculum review committees in the use of technology in their area.

Participation in Technology conferences both in-state and out-of-state to update

awareness of current software and hardware. (Tech Camp, NDATL)

Keep current with advances in technology that may have an impact on the school district.

Supervises the training and support of instructional staff in the use of technology for their professional and classroom use. (Workshops, telephone support, classroom visitations walk in support, etc.)
