Hourly Pay Rate: $25.00
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30AM-4PM
The Data Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure that enable reporting, analytics, and operational workflows across the organization. Reporting directly to Data Engineering AVP, this is a growth-oriented role ideal for someone early in their data engineering career who is eager to learn and develop their skills. The AVP will provide hands-on mentorship and technical guidance, offering a unique opportunity to build deep expertise in data engineering within a mission-driven environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work alongside the Data Engineering AVP to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from source systems to centralized data stores
Write and maintain SQL queries and scripts to transform, clean, and prepare data for reporting and analysis
Learn to design and optimize data models, schemas, and table structures with guidance from the AVP
Monitor existing pipelines, assist with troubleshooting failures, and help implement logging and alerting practices
Support data integration efforts by connecting internal systems, third-party APIs, and flat files into unified data platforms
Document data pipelines, workflows and schemas to build organizational knowledge and ensure long-term sustainability
Collaborate with analysts and program staff to understand their data needs and help translate requirements into technical solutions
Complies with all agency policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1-2 years of experience in software development or application support, preferably within healthcare or nonprofit sectors (internships or project work counts)
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or associate’s degree in computer science with an additional 2 years of experience or combination of education and years of experience
Foundational proficiency in SQL and at least basic familiarity with a programming language such as Python
Exposure to relational databases (ex. MySQL, PostgreSQL) or cloud data platforms (Fabric preferred).
Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and API-based integrations
Able to adapt to unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Dependable and flexible when necessary.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
