Williams College Groundskeeper in Williamstown, Massachusetts

Williams College is searching for an experienced Groundskeeper to join our Facilities team! In this role, you will be essential in maintaining and enhancing the beauty, safety, and functionality of our beautiful campus. Responsibilities: - Perform comprehensive turf management including mowing, trimming, aerating, fertilizing, and watering lawns. - Care for landscapes by planting, cultivating, and pruning flowers, shrubs, and trees, and maintaining landscape beds (weeding, mulching). - Support athletics and events by preparing and lining sports fields, maintaining the indoor/outdoor track and indoor hockey rink, and assisting with event setup/takedown. - Ensure campus safety and cleanliness through debris, trash, and leaf removal; sweeping/washing hardscapes; and performing snow and ice removal using plows, blowers, and shovels. - Safely operate and perform routine maintenance on a wide variety of grounds equipment, including mowers, tractors, light-to-heavy vehicles, plows, backhoe, and street sweeper. - Inspect, repair, and maintain irrigation systems and apply pesticides/herbicides as needed. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1-2 years experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. - Valid state driver\'s license and Mass. DOT medical exam is required. - Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License is required within 2 years of hire. - Massachusetts Pesticide Applicators License is required within two years of hire. - Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and basic mechanical aptitude. - Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, respond to emergency call-backs, and work during adverse weather events as Essential Personnel. - Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including frequent lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds (and occasionally up to 75 pounds), prolonged standing, walking on uneven terrain, bending, stooping, and kneeling. - College campus experience is preferred.
