Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Farmworker - Trabajador agricola in Willard, Michigan
Twenty-seven (27) farmworkers are needed to work in Huron, Seneca, Richland, and Sandusky Counties, Ohio, producing a wide variety of vegetables, including but not limited to broccoli, beans, cabbage, carrots, celery, corn, lettuce, onions, peppers, potatoes, squash, tomatoes, and watermelon. Workers will plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables by hand; weed and thin crops; transplant seedlings; stake, tie, prune, and trellis plants; spread and remove plastic ground covering; and grade, size, bunch, and field-pack produce. Additional duties include loading and unloading products, operating hand tools and farm equipment, installing and maintaining irrigation systems, mowing and maintaining fields, repairing fences, and assisting with general farm and facility maintenance. Some workers will perform packinghouse duties such as sorting, packing, labeling, palletizing, and preparing produce for shipment using forklifts, conveyors, and other equipment. The job requires at least 2 months of verifiable commercial vegetable farm experience, the ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs, repetitive movements, extensive walking, bending, and working outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions. Saturday work is required. Workers with a clean driving record and insurable driver's license may be asked to drive company vehicles. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing may be required upon suspicion or following a major accident.

Housing / Vivienda: Employer provides free housing to workers who cannot reasonably return to their residence the same day. Workers are assigned separate sleeping rooms and bathroom facilities for male and female workers. Family housing is not provided. Employers must follow current AEWR rates and apply adverse compensation adjustments for H-2A workers receiving free employer-provided housing, as required by state guidelines under the interim rule.
