UPHOLSTERY TECHNICIAN I
Job Description
? Properly process interior components, using a variety of materials to disassemble, process/clean substrates, sew components, recover and final assemble aircraft panels (headliners. window panels, sidewalls, etc.) using ACI procedures in accordance with customer aircraft specifications, customer provided interior design specification and/or customer provided engineering drawings.
? Disassemble, process/clean substrates, sew components, upholster and final assemble seats and related components per engineering drawings and design specifications.
? Replace aircraft carpet by fitting in aircraft or using original as a template to cut to shape, and final fit in aircraft. Bind or serge edges, as required.
? Complies with and champions Safety, 5S and housekeeping requirements. Ensures the protection of aircraft components.
? Mentors and trains lesser skilled technicians.
? Works to develop and implement process improvements that address safety, improve quality, reduce material
and labor costs and reduce cycle time.
? Utilizes material tracking system to create material demand, track squawks and sign-off work. ? Assists in maintaining shop equipment.
? Performs other duties as required.

Job Skills
? Strong knowledge and expertise with all aspects of upholstery processes using process, design and engineering documentation. Experience in repair, modification, and refurbishment of aircraft seating a plus.
? Technical skills and knowledge of regulatory requirements and tooling used in an upholstery shop.
? Ability to disassemble, strip, repair, recover and reassemble aircraft periphery panels.
? Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations, customer specifications, blueprints and engineering
documentation.
? Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protective equipment.
? Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
? Must be computer literate.
? Ability to communicate in an assertive yet professional, motivating and tactful manner.
Education and Experience
? Knowledge of aircraft upholstery processes and products is preferred.
? Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools preferred. ? High school diploma/GED. Trade schooling related to upholstery or other relevant craftsmanship a plus.
Physical Requirements and Other
? Ability to climb ladders or stairs in small, restricted areas and lift up to 40 pounds.
? Position will require you to submit to and pass a drug test and/or background check.
