Description
JOB SUMMARY:
To complete bench upholstery, sewing machine and upholstery cutting operations using a wide variety of
upholstery materials and tools.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works under general supervision to fabricate, cover and assemble flat and curved panels. Sew
simple covers and curtains using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications.
- Work with fabric, vinyl and leather hides, composites and other materials using specified
adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools and various power tools.
- Fit panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels,
windows, cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads and coverings.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools/equipment and basic measuring instruments.
Ability to read and write to interpret basic drawings. Ability to work from detailed instructions and
minor decision making.
- Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification and
Textron Aviation’s blueprint reading class preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
6 months experience in upholstery, bench upholstery, and/or mechanical experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, fumes and liquids. Safety
shoes and protective clothing could be required.
