Kansas Heart Hospital is seeking motivated and compassionate Student Nurse Technicians to join our exceptional nursing team. This role is ideal for RN nursing students who want to gain real-world, hands-on experience in a specialized cardiac care environment while working a flexible schedule designed to accommodate school and clinical commitments.
As a Student Nurse Technician, you will play a vital role in patient care, building your clinical skills and confidence while supporting our mission to deliver outstanding, patient-centered heart care.
What Youll Do
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, you will:
- Provide individualized, high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment
- Interact with patients and families in a respectful, compassionate, and therapeutic manner
- Obtain and document vital signs, blood glucose levels, and other clinical data
- Recognize and report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN
- Assist with cardiac monitoring, EKGs, and use of Doppler for pulse assessment
- Support patient safety through fall prevention, skin integrity assessments, and proper transfers
- Assist with catheter care, simple dressing changes, chest tube care, and ace wrap application
- Set up and maintain oxygen, suction, and monitoring equipment
- Follow HIPAA guidelines, infection control precautions, and patient rights standards
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and contribute to quality patient outcomes
