Job Description

The Quality Technician ensures that products meet defined quality standards by performing detailed inspections, working from technical documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives on the production line. This role combines hands-on mechanical work with quality control activities and requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and the ability to follow standardized procedures across multiple workstations.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out instructions and assignments from the supervisor in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.

  • Work from blueprints, process sheets, check sheets, photo books, and supervisor instructions to perform quality-related tasks and assist with standardizing processes.

  • Position, install, attach, and apply parts in accordance with general procedures and specified quality requirements.

  • Make necessary adjustments to detail parts and components to permit proper assembly and meet quality standards.

  • Develop and maintain level three knowledge of a minimum of five production or inspection stations to support flexible coverage and expertise.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and practices, actively identify and report unsafe acts or conditions, and contribute to safety improvements.

  • Demonstrate and apply 5S principles by maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient work area.

  • Submit improvement suggestions and actively participate in quick Kaizen events to support continuous improvement.

  • Engage in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities and apply the associated tools to drive process and quality improvements.

  • Use AM tags, Alstar, and Quality Gate data to identify trends, address issues, and support ongoing quality enhancement.

  • Maintain responsibility for housekeeping, 5S, and workplace organization within the assigned area.

  • Dismantle parts and sub-assemblies from units to perform necessary repairs, then reassemble and properly attach them back to the unit.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the lead person or department team leader to support production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in quality control, quality assurance, or quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical documentation such as process sheets, check sheets, and photo books.

  • Proficiency with basic inspection tools, including calipers and micrometers, for precise measurement and verification.

  • Strong visual inspection skills to identify defects, irregularities, and nonconformances in parts and assemblies.

  • Familiarity with production processes and workflows in a manufacturing setting.

  • Understanding and practical application of 5S principles to maintain an organized and efficient work area.

  • Experience participating in or supporting Kaizen or other continuous improvement activities.

  • Ability to follow safety policies rigorously and recognize unsafe acts or conditions.

  • Capability to dismantle, repair, and reassemble parts and sub-assemblies while maintaining quality standards.

  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts, including 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) or 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using quality-related data systems such as Alstar and Quality Gate to monitor and improve performance.

  • Exposure to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies and tools.

  • Comfort using AM tags and other structured problem-solving or maintenance tracking tools.

  • Prior involvement in quick Kaizen events or similar rapid improvement initiatives.

  • Flexibility to learn and achieve level three knowledge across multiple stations to support cross-training and coverage.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, team leaders, and production staff.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing environment that emphasizes safety, organization, and efficiency. You work on the production floor using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment, guided by blueprints, process sheets, check sheets, and photo books. The position follows fixed shift schedules, with opportunities on 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.). The workplace follows 5S principles, promoting clean, orderly, and well-structured work areas to support quality and productivity.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.35 - $26.35/hr.
