Job Title: Warehouse Material Handler

Job Description

The Warehouse Material Handler safely, accurately, and efficiently moves, stores, and distributes materials within a warehouse and production environment. This role combines cycle counting, data entry, forklift operation, saw operation, and the use of computer systems to support daily production and logistics activities. Safety is the top priority at all times, and the position plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting production goals, and ensuring materials are delivered to the right locations on time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cycle counts and participate in inventory control activities to maintain accurate stock levels.

  • Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, verifying quantities and quality.

  • Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse and production areas.

  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using manual methods and material handling equipment.

  • Operate forklifts (sit-down and stand-up), pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently once trained and certified.

  • Operate saws and related equipment as needed for material preparation, following all safety procedures.

  • Use computer systems and basic Microsoft Office applications to enter data, track inventory, and complete documentation.

  • Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures and storage locations.

  • Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, labeling, and completing required shipping and receiving documentation.

  • Monitor materials for damage or non-conformance and promptly report issues to supervision.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards and housekeeping expectations.

  • Follow all safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment, and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.

  • Support production by ensuring materials are available at the right place and time to meet efficiency and output targets.

  • Perform general labor and other warehouse or material handling duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related environment.

  • Previous experience in material handling, shipping and receiving, or warehouse operations.

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks, or willingness and ability to obtain certification.

  • Experience using pallet jacks, order pickers, and related material handling equipment.

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, for inventory tracking and documentation.

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Basic math skills and the ability to read measurements and utilize a ruler accurately.

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on inventory accuracy and proper documentation.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production and warehouse environment.

  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.

  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials, often up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions in a warehouse setting.

  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures and industrial conditions.

  • Strong commitment to following safety procedures and using personal protective equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high-volume warehouse or production facility with strong expectations on production numbers and efficiency.

  • Experience with warehouse inventory systems and inventory control processes.

  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Experience with picking, packing, loading, and general labor tasks in a warehouse setting.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong reliability and punctuality across multiple shift options (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift).

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and production facility with a strong focus on safety and high production expectations. The operation runs with a large team of approximately 150–160 full-time employees and uses equipment such as forklifts (sit-down and stand-up), pallet jacks, order pickers, and saws. The environment includes exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of an industrial setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.20 - $20.20/hr.
