WICHITA FALLS-CITY OF SR RECREATIONAL SERVICES WORKER in Wichita Falls, Texas
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of general maintenance work which contributes to the upkeep and care of the parks, buildings and facilities and ball fields. This is accomplished by maintaining the appearance and safety of the grounds; cleaning in and around all buildings and areas, ensuring the readiness for play of the athletic fields; maintaining the appearance and safety of the playground and picnic areas; maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities; maintaining the safe and efficient operation of equipment; and completing related work as assigned.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Drivers License Required - Y Type - A
THIS LICENSE IS PREFERRED AT TIME OF HIRE OR PROMOTION, HOWEVER, WILL CONSIDER A HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WITHOUT ONE. HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT OF 120 DAYS FROM HIRE OR PROMOTION TO OBTAIN ONE.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Code Essential Functions
1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice 2 H Leads crews by supervising and participating in a variety of parks maintenance activities by scheduling and assigning work, monitoring work activities, determining priorities, and completing work orders and regularly scheduled tasks. 3 H Maintains the appearance and safety of the grounds by mowing the grass to its proper height; trimming and edging around the walks, flower beds, walls, buildings, or specified areas, spraying lawn shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides, removing leaves and debris, pruning shrubs and trees to shape to improve growth or to remove damaged or diseased leaves, branches, or twigs, watering the lawns, trees, shrubs, and flower beds, and planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. 4 H Ensures the readiness for play of athletic fields by leveling and smoothing the surface area, measuring and striping athletic field lines, and digging holes. 5 H Maintains the appearance and safety of the playground and picnic area by leveling and adding cushion material, and painting and performing minor repairs to tables, seats, bleachers, signs, and playground equipment. 6 H Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities by removing litter, emptying trash barrels, removing broken glass, and cleaning the bathrooms. 7 H Maintains the safe and efficient operation of equipment by sharpening blades, performing basic maintenance such as oiling parts and replenishing gasoline and oil, and repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts.

Physical Demands Medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis and/or 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Equipment Usage Handles or uses machines, tools, or equipment requiring moderate instruction and experience such as large shop equipment and machines, firefighting apparatus, protective equipment, gang mowers, tractors, vehicles, police vehicles or light trucks, firearms, computers, peripherals, medical or dental equipment, software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, or custom applications, switchboard; or may repair power tools and light equipment and office machines. Unavoidable Hazards Works where exposure to bodily injury from electrical shock is a possibility such as operating high voltage equipment or repairing electrical generating equipment; or works in high, exposed places with risk of falling such as on power lines or scaffolding.
