POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of Mission Support Services is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for strengthening the infrastructure that enables the YMCA to fulfill its mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
This role provides strategic leadership for core support functions: Finance, Human Resources, Risk Management, Information Technology, and Facilities. This role will ensue operational excellence, stewardship, and alignment with the YMCAs cause.
As a mission-driven business leader, this individual serves as both a systems thinker and change agent, building high-performing teams, scalable systems, and effective practices that advance organizational impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cause-Driven Leadership
Model YMCA values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith Align administrative functions to support mission delivery and community impact Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to advance strategic priorities Foster a culture of service, stewardship, collaboration, and accountability Champion an inclusive environment where all feel welcomed and valued
Financial Stewardship and Sustainability
Oversee budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and internal controls Ensure responsible stewardship and safeguard organizational assets Support long-term financial sustainability and growth initiatives Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations Provide clear financial insights to leadership and the Board
Human Resources and Leadership Development
Lead strategies to attract, develop, and retain mission-driven staff Foster a positive, values-based workplace culture Oversee performance management, compensation, benefits, and employee relations Advance leadership development across the organization Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices
Risk Management and Safety
Promote a culture of safety for program participants, members, staff, and volunteers Oversee enterprise risk management, insurance, and compliance Develop policies that protect people, assets, and reputation Lead incident response and crisis management efforts
Facilities and Asset Stewardship
Oversee maintenance, capital planning, and facility readiness Ensure spaces are safe, welcoming, and mission-aligned Support long-term asset sustainability and deferred maintenance planning Maintain environments that reflect operational excellence
Information Technology and Systems Enablement
Provide strategic oversight of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital tools Align technology to improve efficiency and member experience Leverage data systems to inform decisions and measure impact Advance systems modernization in support of mission delivery
Change Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness
Lead system and process improvements that strengthen performance Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and service quality Drive cross-functional initiatives that remove barriers to success Balance innovation with stability and disciplined execution
